National Prayer Day

Meadowbrook Baptist Church will host a National Day of P rayer brea k fa st on Thu r sday, May 6 from 7 until 8 a.m., according to Rev. Rick Hertless, pastor. Meadowbrook’s sanctuary will be open for prayer from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Food ministry free BBQ

Loaves & Fishes Food Ministry will provide free barbecue plates to the public at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15 on a firstc first-served basis until all food is gone.

They are also tak ing food orders for May. Orders are due on Thursday, May 6 and food pickup day will be May 22. Menus are available at Rockda le Chamber and city hall and White’s Leather Shop in Milano.

The ministry is at The Crossing, US 79 and CR 334 between Milano and Rockdale. Cross the RR tracks and the building is on the right, said Rebecca Telg, publicist. For details call 446-9140.

Crawfish boil May 16

St. John’s United Methodist Church w ill host its fifth annual Crawfish Boil Sunday, May 16, John Warren, pastor, has announced. Proceeds will go to the St. John’s summer mission trip.

An old-fashion church service on the grounds w ill star t at 10:30 a.m. and serving of the meal will be from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The meal, prepared by Miller Bassler and his “cajun” crew, will include crawfish, corn and potatoes. A new feature will be red beans and rice with cornbread.

Prices are: Craw fish meal, $12 pre-sale, $15 on meal day; red beans and rice with sausage, $7 pre-sale, $9 on meal day.

Men’s breakfast Tuesday

A community men’s fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between several local churches.

Purpose is to bring men of the community together for Christian fellowship.

Next breakfast will be May 11 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

Velvet Ridge Singers

First Shiloh Baptist Church, 100 CR 481, Thrall, invites the public to hear the Velvet Ridge Singers at 7 p.m.. Saturday, May 22. The group’s web site is velvetridgesingers. com.

Take Mom out to dinner

New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church, Mulberry and Fourth Street, will host a Mother’s Day dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 8, according to Harold Rideaux, spokesman.

“Everyone is invited to bring their Mom and families for food and fellowship,” Rideaux said.

‘100 Women in Red’

New Hope Baptist church will hold a “100 Women in Red” program at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16. Theme will be “He saw the best in me (Jer. 29:11-13).”

Guest speaker will be Rev. Eddie L. Taylor and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church congregation of Benchley.

“Come join us as we celebrate and praise the Lord,” said Deborah Crawford, spokesperson.

Aglow meeting May 13

Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse w ill meet Thursday, May 13 at Rockdale General Store, just west of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home on US 79.

Susan Haslett of Bryan, who has Tapestry of Grace Women’s Ministry, will be guest speaker. “Susan ministers in a joyful, down-to-earth way, is prophetic and a remarkable woman full of compassion, love and purpose,” said Mary and Betty Amerson, Lighthouse publicists.
