Two treated after area highway crashes

Two persons were treated after a pair of one-vehicle highway crashes in the Rockdale area during the past week.

Trooper Mark Berry said a vehicle operated by Mary O’Brien, 77, of Dallas, left US 77 near Minerva at 10:35 a.m. Sunday near Minerva and overturned at the roadside.

O’Brien was taken to Richards Memorial Hospital, Rockdale, for treatment.

Berry termed vehicle damages “extensive.”

A 57-year-old Buckholts man was taken to Scott & White Hospital, Temple, after a 4:50 p.m. Friday accident, according to Trooper David Yarbrough.

Betcar Ruiz’s vehicle went off FM 437 near Davilla, according to Yarbrough.

Vehicle damages were termed moderate.

Moderate damages, and no injuries, were reported at 5:54 a.m. Thursday in vehicle-coyote accident on US 79 of Rockdale, according to Berry.

Driver was listed as Matthew Kump, 21, of Austin.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
