Local team posts two stroke win at McFalls

The team of Dwayne David, Cruz Reyes, Sandy Summers, David Caffey and Mack Kastner carved out a two-stroke win at the 18th annual Mike McFalls memorial golf scramble Saturday at the Rockdale Country Club.

A total of 51 players participated in the tournament which raises money for the Rotary Club scholarships presented to deserving RHS seniors each spring.

Top teams were listed as:

59—Dwayne David, Cruz Reyes, Sandy Summers, David Caffey, Mack Kastner.

61—Joe Wayne Cleveland, John McGee, Monroe Jungman, Mark Skubal.

63—George Malone, J.B. Tomlin, Mike Hirsch, David Hodges, Pat Williams.

63—Cody Caldwell, Mark Vreeland, Brandon Navarra, Greg Garlett, Lee Jenkins, Homer R. Mowdy.

Most accurate drive—Sandy Summers, 10 1/2.

Prize drawing winners were:

$200 Visa gift card—Shanda Leech. Thorndale athletic banquet set for May 12

The Thorndale Athletic Banquet will be held Wednesday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall.

Tickets for the mea l are $10 each and are on sale at the high school office, BS Tire and the Rockdale Federal Credit Union.

Tickets will be available for sale through Tuesday, May 11. Please purchase your tickets in advance.

Join us as we celebrate and honor the Bulldogs and Lady Dogs for their successful athletic seasons in 2009-2010. Physicals to be offered at junior high May 7

Physicals will be offered to Rockdale athletes on Friday, May 7, in the Jr. High Gym from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $15.

Students should sign up with their coach by Friday, April 30 if they want to get a physical. Checks should be made payable to Dr. Jennifer Choate.

Students should bring their glasses/contacts for the eye exam. A nd girls should not wear dresses or skirts on the day of the physical (May 7).

All UIL Forms including the Medical History must be completed and signed at the bottom of the page.

Dawgs holding Mother’s Day bake sale May 8

The Milam Count y Dawgs Pony baseball team will be holding a bake sale just in time for Mother’s Day.

The bake sale will be on Saturday, May 8th, in front of the Thorndale Meat Market.

Desser ts w ill be available from 7 a.m. until sold out. Proceeds will be used by the team to defer tournament expenses and purchase team gear.

The Dawgs represent the Milam C ount y Pony L eag ue Mustang 10U Division.

3rd annual booster club tournament May 8

The 3rd annual Rockdale Athletic Booster Club golf tournament/ crawfish boil will be held Saturday, May 8 at the Rockdale Country Club.

Entry fee is $75 per person and includes one meal ticket. Additional meal tickets can be purchased for $20.

Prize money will be awarded to the top three finishers in this A,B,C,D format.

A lunch of sausage wraps will be served at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at Noon followed by the crawfish boil at 6 p.m.
