Most golf teams consist of well, golfers. Which
is meant to say players who do nothing but play golf year round.
For instance, defending Class 3A state champion Gatesville counts four fulltime golfers, plus their star quarterback.

While it’s true the seminal Lady Tiger golf teams represented Rockdale High School, they were pretty much left to their own accord.
When a group of girls approached then athletic director Fred Johnson about starting a girls squad in 1976, there was no budget for the extra team and the girls that formed the team had to pay their own way into tournaments. Full Story
Scitern top finishing golfer at national meet
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA—Cameron Scitern, a freshman playing at Tennessee State University, finished the PGA National College Championship tournament in sixth place individually and the Tennessee State men’s team finishes in second place just two shots back.
Cameron shot rounds of 75, 71, 72 for the 54 hole event to finish the top freshman of the tournament. Full Story
RYFL holds first of year meeting on May 16
The Rockdale Youth Football League will be holding its beginning of the year meeting, Sunday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at the senor center on Green St.
Anyone who is interested in coaching needs to be at this meeting.

Jubilee Days Ranch Rodeo, Rockdale’s annual summertime event, is set for June 11-12 and promises top-notch rodeo action with real working cowboys in the saddle.
Events will include Sorting, Branding, Doctoring, Mugging and Milking. Buckles will be awarded to average winners, top horse and top hand. Full Story
Roddam named offensive MVP of district for second straight year
Rockdale senior shortstop Kassie Roddam has been named the District 24-3A offensive player of the year for the second consecutive year.
The left-handed hitting Roddam has been named to the first-team all-district squad for four straight years and at three different positions. Full Story
