Third child dies after car-train accident

A third child has died from a Monday afternoon train-car accident east of Rockdale.
   Four-year-old Keeyati Hancox died Tuesday night at Scott & White Hospital, Temple. 
   Dying at the scene of the 3:58 p.m. Monday collision, a private driveway two miles east of Rockdale, was 9-year-old Monterious Hancox.  Ahkeem Williams, 8, died Monday afternoon at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.
   The driver, 40-year-old Terrilyn Williams of Rockdale, remains in serious condition at Scott & White.  Monterious Hancox and Ahkeem Williams were second graders at Rockdale Elementary School.
   EMS, police and volunteer firemen responded to the unguarded  collision on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.  Three helicopters responded to the scene, one landing at the Knights of Columbus Hall parking lot and two others at Richards Memorial Hospital.  
 An ambulance heading to the local hospital was also involved in a separate collision inside the Rockdale city limits.  The patient was transferred to another ambulance.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
