Sales tax rebates up for month
Sales tax rebates were a mixed bag for May, with Rockdale showing a 4.7-percent increase for the month, while trailing 7 percent for the yearto date.
All local taxing entities in Milam County, save City of Buckholts, show drops in year-to-date returns, continuing a trend that began with Alcoa layoffs in 2008.
Collections for the county are down nearly a fifth from 2009. Full Story
Central Counties MHMR sets public forums June 8
TEMPLE—Central Counties Mental Health and Mental Retardation Ser v ices (CCCMHMR) will conduct two public forums offered to the community from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8 at the Temple MHMR Main Center on 304 Sout h 22nd Street.
