Woolverton

Graveside services for Dorothy Woolverton, 90, of Rockdale was held Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Sand Grove Cemetery near Milano with Rev. Charles Denman of Rockdale officiating.

Mrs. Woolverton died Saturday, May 15, at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

She was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Milam County to Willie Andrews and Jewel Demore Andrews.

She married J.D. Woolverton on Sept. 28, 1936, in Rockdale.

Mrs. Woolverton was a homemaker and spent most of her life in Rockdale, except for the times she and her husband traveled to work the migration fields.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Woolverton, on Nov. 22, 2005; a son, Roy Woolverton; a sister, Faye Lawrence; and two brothers, Charles Edward “Billy” Andrews and Floyd Andrews.

Survivors are a son, James Woolverton of Rockdale; a daughter, Doris Hairston and husband Charles “Buck” of Rockdale; and two sisters, Ruby Grace of Bryan, Bettie Pudder of Worthington, West Virginia; also, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
