Jubilee Days rodeo returns June 11-12

Jubilee Days, Rockdale’s annual summertime rodeo, is set for June 11-12 and promises topnotch rodeo action.

Events will include Sorting, Branding, Doctoring, Mugging and Milking. Buckles will be awarded to average winners, top horse and top hand.

Event organizer Leroy Stephens said the rodeo will take 30 teams, with 10 performance and 10 slacks teams on Friday and 10 performance teams on Saturday. (Fees must be paid by 6:30 p.m. each night. Slack must be paid before last event starts.)

Cost is $400 per team with a 70 percent payout. Average team payouts are $3,200 for 1st place, $1,920 for 2nd, and $1,280 for 3rd.

Call-in is Monday, June 7 from 6-10 p.m. Call Stephens at 512- 760-5222 for more information. Callers must call in and have their ranch name. A calf-scramble will also be held for the youth.

Admission to the park this year is free, but a nominal admission will be charged to get into the rodeo arena. There will also be a carnival held each night for those not wishing to attend the rodeo.
