Join Chamber, get customers sent your way

Someone called the Chamber concerning a business he wanted more information about.

I didn’t have any information on that business and so I could not tell him whether they were reputable or not. If you are not a member of the Chamber, maybe today is the day to change that.

We give referrals all the time for our business members. Join the Chamber by calling 446- 2030 and I’ll come out and visit with you or you can come by the Chamber.

Graduation trip

I have been on vacation for two weeks and it was a wonderful time. Brother Rick, sisterin law Frances and I set out for Rick’s graduation in Lynchberg, Virginia at Liberty University. He received his Master of Divinity and his Master of Religious Education.

Glenn Beck, TV personality, spoke at the graduation and he was inspirational. Some of his thoughts were:

“Don’t try to figure out what to do. Turn to God and live.”

“Respect others—you will find they are afraid just like us.”

“No experience is bad—it just is. It is what you do with the experience that counts.”

Despite the heat, the whole ceremony was most enjoyable. The Liberty University campus is impressive.

We then went on to Richmond to see our family. On the way home we took a side trip and went to Florida to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando. That was a wonderful park and very uplifting. The sights we saw were special and most I had not seen before.

I was on a post card hunt for the grandkids and though I did find postcards for most of the states, it took more than one stop to find them. I guess post cards are going out of style. The weather was perfect and the company was enjoyable.

After eight states and almost 4,000 miles traveled, we are back in good ol’ Rockdale and I am glad to be home. Dorothy was right-there is no place like home.

Memorial Day program

On Monday, May 31 there will be a Memorial Day program at Wolf Park in downtown Rockdale. It is free to the public and all are encouraged to come out and remember those who have fought for our freedoms.

Our country is blessed and our soldiers have helped us keep our freedoms.

Until next time I leave you with this: You can’t change the past but you can ruin the present by worrying over the future.
