Saenz, psychologist, speaker for RHS graduates
Graduation exercises are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Tiger Field.
The son of blue collar parents, raised by a single mother, he has earned a Ph.D, and done clinical work at two Ivy League schools.
“My father left the family when I was nine, and I was raised by a single mother,” he said. “As a teenager, brushes w ith the law led a kindhearted uncle to take me in until I completed high school.”
“At perhaps my darkest hour, as a young man in my early 20s, sleeping on the living room floor in a friend’s apartment, I re-discovered two notes written by two of my high school teachers in a journal that I had been keeping for years.
“They basically said ‘you can do it Adam. We expect a lot from you’,” he recalled. “I knew they meant it, and I decided at that moment that whatever it took, however long it took, I would go get my education and prove them right.”
He went on to earn undergraduate and masters degrees at the University of Texas San Antonio, a Ph.D in Psychology from Texas A&M.
Against all odds he was chosen by the prestigious Harvard Medical School for his residency and completed his post doctoral work at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
His thriving private practice in Bryan offers counseling, psychological testing, and life coaching. He is a much sought after speaker and lecturer in schools around the country.
Dr. Saenz and his wife, Kim, have three children, Alisa, Isaiah, and Andrew.
