Annual Stiles Field Day, Milam Crops tour events set in June

Dates have been set for two annual agricultural events in the area that are very popular. The Stiles Farm Field Day is set for Tuesday, June 15 at the Stiles Farm near Thrall. The Milam County Crops Tour is scheduled for Thursday, June 17.

Stiles Field Day

The 47th annual Stiles Farm Foundation Field Day will be held on June 15 at the Stiles Farm just east of Thrall on US 79. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and concurrent sessions will begin at 8:30.

Some of the featured stops of the tour will be herbicide tolerant Sorghum and new weed technology, nutrient availability in row crops, new cotton systems and cotton root rot control and a review of the state variety tests.

At the conclusion of the field tours, commercial agriculture exhibits will be on hand to view and will be followed by lunch.

After lunch, there will be several field demonstrations including tillage equipment and guidance systems. There will also be a presentation on seedless watermelon production.

The field day is free to attend and will offer three CEUs for pesticide license holders, as well as three CCAs for Certified Crop Advisors.

Milam County Crops Tour

The Milam County Crops Committee will hold the annual Field Crops Tour on Thursday, June 17. The tour will begin with registration at 8 a.m. at the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron.

Following registration, we will travel to various field demonstrations where Extension specialists and industry representatives will be present to discuss varieties and other items.

We will conclude the tour with lunch and presentations on improved crop production. Three CEUs for Pesticide license holders will be offered to participants.
