Jury rules Alcoa should pay Luminant $10 million in damages
In the end it wasn’t even close.
Luminant won “The Big Trial’s” war of words and battle for the bucks last week as a 20th District Court jury tossed out Alcoa’s half-billion dollar lawsuit.
Not only did Alcoa fail to win any damages, the jury decided the aluminum company should pay damages to the energy firm to the tune of $10 million. Full Story

Homecoming marks 76th year on Sunday
Newcomers and oldtimers will get a taste of history at the 76th annual Rockdale Homecoming, set for Sunday at the Patterson Civic Center.

ATS opens local campus
Studies under way for first class of 11 heavy equipment trainees
Wearing a Rockdale Tigers cap, Associated Training Services (ATS) CEO Dan Lorenz joked that while he had no idea how good the local football team was, he sensed a good fit for his company.
Lorenz was in town to open the company’s ninth campus Monday along with well-wishers and the inaugural class of 11 men seeking training to operate heavy equipment. Full Story
Tradition on tap for Jubilee Days Rodeo
This year’s Jubilee Days Rodeo will bring a different look with working ranch hands spotlighted in a competition that features cattle sorting, branding, doctoring, mugging and, the crowd favorite, wild cow milking.
Rockdale Roping & Cutting Club will sponsor the annual event, which kicks off at 8 p.m. Thursday in Fair Park Arena with barrel racing. Full Story
1,000 attend services for young wreck victims
Rockdale said “good-bye” to the three young children killed in a May 24 car-train collision Saturday in a funeral that ranks among the largest in town history.
A crowd estimated at 1,000 filed into the Knights of Columbus Hall to pay their last respects to AhKeem (Keem) Williams, Monterios (Monty) Hancox and Kei’Adie Hancox. Full Story
