RCS celebration honors Lopez here on Sunday
Heavenly Treasures manager retiring after decade of service
Rockdale Christian Services board of directors honored Rachel Lopez on Sunday, June 13 for her 10 years of service to the RCS Heavenly Treasures thrift store which serves the needy.
Mrs. Lopez will retire as Heavenly Treasures manager at the end of June.
A covered-dish celebration was held at the home of Patricia Watson with board members and volunteers of the RCS Heavenly Treasurers and food pantry in attendance.
Mt. Zion Baptist VBS set next week
Mt. Zion Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School at “Saddle Ridge Ranch” June 21-25 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 4 years old through high school, according to Pastor Luther Shelander.

Catholic youth BBQ chicken sale June 27
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church youth group will be sell one-half barbecue chickens on Sunday, June 27 at the KC Hall for $5.

“These students are raising money to attend World Youth Day in Spain,” Simpson said.
St. Joseph’s youth group will hold a garage sale on Saturday, July 10. They are currently accepting donations of gently used items (no clothes please). Proceeds will also go toward their trip to World Youth Day in Spain.

First Baptist VBS starts with dinner on Sunday
First Baptist Church, 240 Green Street in Rockdale, will host their Vacation Bible School, “Saddle Ridge Ranch,” for 4-year-olds through 5th grade, according to Janet Vaughn, VBS coordinator.
“Grab your boots and head on over on Sunday, June 20 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and we will feed you supper that night. The rest of the VBS runs Monday-Thursday, June 21-24 from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m.,” she said.
Next men’s breakfast July 13 at St. John’s
A community men’s fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between several local churches.
Purpose is to bring men of the community together for Christian fellowship.
Next breakfast will be July 13 at St. John’s United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
