Benefit at KC Hall set July 11th for Rockdale resident Matthews

A benefit will be held Sund ay, July 11 at the KC Hall to ra ise f unds for Rockda le resident Linda Tovar Matthews who has been fighting end stage renal disease for the past 18 years.

The benefit will include silent and live auctions, barbecue plates, face painting, massage therapy and live music.

When Matthews was first diagnosed she had to have dialysis treatment three times a week at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Two years ago she had the opportunity to receive a home dialysis machine which enabled her to do dialysis at home.

“Unfortunately since August, 2009, Linda has encountered some major setback s in her health, resulting in 14 surgeries due to her renal condition,” Norma Dawson, Matthews’ sister said. “Linda and Ricky Matthews are burdened with mounting medical and financial burdens. Please support this Rockdale family’s benefit.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. for viewing of the live and silent auction items. Barbecue plates will go on sale at 11 a.m. and cost $8 each.

Live music throughout the day w ill feature local bands Bluesadillo, Crash Landing and The Shades.
