Milano Rah-Rah Cheer Camp sign up begins

Milano High School’s varsity cheerleaders will host their annual Rah- Rah Cheer Camp on July 15-16 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the school gym. Girls ages four to 11 can participate and registration is $25.

If registered by July 1, participants will get their shirts at camp, if not by July 1 then shirt will be given out before the first pep rally this fall. For more information, contact MHS cheerleading sponsor Laci Youree, 979- 209-4588 or lyouree@milanoisd. net.

The public is invited to a gospel singing at the Master Gateway Church in Milano from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26. There will be country gospel music, so bring your gospel songs or instruments and join them, says pastor Ross Cunningham. There will be a group band from Waco performing as well. Refreshments will be served.

The City of Milano’s annual Independence Day parade is set for Saturday, July 3. Line up is at 9 a.m. at Charlie Martin Park and the parade route will go to downtown. The parade theme is “Stars and Stripes Forever”. A free hot dog meal will be served at the Milano Civic Center following the parade.

The Milano Exes Scholarship Fund has set up another fundraising cruise, this time it is a seven-day voyage to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Cruise dates are Feb. 6-12, 2011. The cruise will bring $140 to the scholarship fund for every cabin sold. The first deposit of $50 per person is due July 15.

Milano High School homecoming will be on Friday, Oct. 22 when the Eagles host Bartlett. The annual Milano Exes Reunion and luncheon will be the next day at the high school cafeteria.

Donations are being collected for Kristi’s Krusaders first annual Rally for the Walk (Walk MS 2010). The Aug. 7 event will be held at Nat’s near Milano and will include a bike run, auctions, pool and horseshoe tournaments, music and barbecue. Kristi’s Krusaders is headed by Kristi Ditto Bode, wife of Buster Bode and daughter of Ray Ditto of Gause and daughter-in-law of Vicky Jordan of Milano. Kristi was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) a couple of years ago.

Kristi’s Krusaders are raising money for this fall’s Walk MS 2010. All proceeds from the benefit will help fund research to find a cure for MS. For more information about the fund-raiser, contact Kristi (254-813-2194), Amber Ditto (254-214-3042) or Nat’s (512-455-6287).

The Lagrone Reunion for this year has passed and plans for the 2011 reunion have begun. Even though the weather was hot, there were very aggressive volleyball, softball and basketball games played. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and plan to attend next year on June 18-19.
