Weems

Services for Elizabeth Weems, 94, of Rockdale will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Chapel with John Warren of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for 12- noon until service time Friday.

Mrs. Weems died Monday, June 21, at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Rockdale to Will and Josephine (Steinberg) Schukraft.

She married Thurman Dempsey Weems on Aug. 18, 1934, in Cameron.

Mrs. Weems was a lifelong Rockdale resident and worked as a clerk at Stricker’s Variety Store and Prewitt Drug Store. She was also a homemaker.

She was a 1932 graduate of Rockdale High School and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Weems was preceded in death by her husband, T.D. “Demp” Weems, on Jan. 14, 2005, and by her parents.

Survivors are a special nephew, Steve Weems of West Columbia; two brothers-in-law, Jack Weems of West Columbia, Marvin Sides of Rockdale; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Weems of West Columbia, Eleanor Weems of Rockdale; four nephews, Melvin Judge Curlee and Marvin Sessions Curlee, both of West Columbia, George Weems of Boerne, Ted Weems of Houston; and six nieces, Marilyn Orr of Sweeny, Shirley Scott, Jackie Jenkins and Mary Jo Hill, all of West Columbia, Frances Ann King of Richmond, Diane Fishero of Rockdale.
