Sheriff’s office sting nets four narcotics arrests

Vargas Vargas A drug sting by the Milam County Sheriff Department’s Special Investigations Unit netted four drug arrests at Cameron’s Varsity Motel Monday.

Investiga- tor Mike Clore, who led the operation, said four Cameron residents were arrested.

They were identified as Ismael Vargas, 25; Rudolfo Rangel, 20; Christopher Lopez, 24; and Alexander Canizales, 19.

Deputy Mike Clore said investigators made arrangements with Vargas, using an undercover deputy, to purchase a cookie of crack-cocaine and half a pound of marijuana.

“Deputies made the arrest without incident,” Clore said.

Vargas is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, enhanced to a first-degree felony because the site is within 1,000 feet of Temple College-Cameron. He was also charged with delivery of marijuana.

Charges are pending for the other three subjects, Clore said.
