New principal turns down Rockdale ISD

The search for a new Rockdale High School principal isn’t over after all.

Harry “Luke” Allison, assistant principal at Groesbeck High School, who was hired Monday, June 21 by Rockdale ISD trustees, turned down the job after visiting Rockdale two days later.

Supt. Dr. Howell Wright told The Reporter that A llison had submitted a letter of resignation and turned down the position for “personal reasons.”

Dr. Wright accepted the letter of resignation.

Allison visited Rockdale High School last Wednesday.

Search gears up

School officials have already jumped back into the principal search process.

Three interviews with prospective candidates were held Tuesday afternoon.

“Once we have an acceptable candidate it may be necessary to call a special school board meeting to hire a principal,” Dr. Wright said.

Allison has been in the Groesbeck ISD since 2002.

He was to have replaced Chad Jones, who resigned in May to accept the position of superintendent in the West Hardin County ISD.
