Council hears water report at workshop

Rockdale City Council members held a utility workshop Tuesday at City Hall to discuss water issues the city faces.

KSA Engineers presented findings from a study on issues with the town’s water treatment plants and its distribution system.

The report found “deficiencies” in both treatment and distribution. Public Works Director David Akin estimated that 40 percent of water is lost in the distribution through aging ceramic water lines and some through water meters.

He said the ideal target would be in the 10 to 15 percent range.

KSA also reported there were capacity and age issues at the city’s Mill Street Water Treatment Plant.

No action was taken.
