Encouraged about MDD, real estate reports

Here we are in the middle of July and going strong. Busy is good and Rockdale is certainly that.

As we continue to promote Rockdale and work together I feel especially encouraged about our town. We have new leaders who care about what is happening, the Municipal Development District is working, new businesses are opening and the realtors tell me they are having some good activity in their offices.

Living in a small town is the best in my opinion and I am so glad to be here. Last week I had meetings in Waco and Houston and though I love to visit the city, I am always glad to come home.

Name change

El Torito has changed their name to Julio’s Mexican Restaurant. Different name, same great food.

But he has added “Kids Eat Free” on Mondays for kids under 10. Go by and visit Julio and his crew at Julio’s Mexican Restaurant.

New business

This Friday we will have a ribbon cutting for L&S Legal Nursing with Lindsay Cleveland and Stephanie Booker owners. The location is at 4154 W. Hwy 79 at 10 am. Welcome to the Chamber Lindsay and Stephanie.

Garage sales

Before we know it it will again be time for the Community Wide Garage Sale and Market Day, this year on Saturday, Sept. 4.

If you haven’t started cleaning out those closets for your garage sale, it’s time to start. Call the Chamber to get your name on the map. Cost is $7 for nonmembers and $5 for members.

Also Tisket A Tasket is having garage sale booths at the business grounds this year.

This is always a big attraction with 100 plus garage sales. Call the Chamber at 446-2030 to get your sale on the map.

‘Friend us’

The Chamber has started a Facebook page and we invite you to become our friends. Social media is a great way to get the word out and very popular. See you on Facebook.

Until next time I leave you with this: You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.
