Sales tax receipts down for July, year-to-date totals

City of Rockdale sales taxes were down 11 percent for the month of July, but lag just over 5 percent for the year-to-date, the State Comptroller’s Office reported.

The only area towns showing year-over-year improvements were Buckholts and Caldwell.

Milam County sales tax rebates were up more than 35 percent for the month, but lag 14 percent for the year.

Rockdale Hospital District is phasing out its sales tax, but will collect through September.

The new Rockdale Municipal District will continue collecting a half-cent sales tax for annexed areas and the city’s extra-territorial jurisdiction until October, when collections for the entire city and ETJ will be included.
