Woman charged with theft of $30,000 cash from home
Kelley Michelle Hernandez was arrested after an investigation by Officers Stephen Goodrich and Steven Cooper. She was charged with theft of property ($20,000 to $100,000) and remains in the county jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said the cash was being kept in the home of a Rockdale man. “She had access to that home,” Newlin said.
Newlin said police “don’t really know” over what time frame the cash was taken.
Police have not recovered the missing money, he said.
A juvenile made 31 phony 911 calls to Rockdale police on Sunday.
“It was the same kid every time,” Newlin said. “It appeared the calls came over a cell phone that had been disconnected from everything but the 911 service.”
Newlin said the incident was more annoying than serious. “It was during a time when not much was going on,” he said.
“The calls had to have come from somewhere in south Milam County,” Newlin said.
Samatra Iwania Beckwith, 34, of Rockdale, was arrested Sunday on a bond surrender charge on an original charge of credit card/debit card surrender.
She remains in the county jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
