Rockdale may have stabilized after Alcoa smelter shutdown
Let’s go back to the weekend that immediately followed the Sept. 30, 2008, announcement that Alcoa was closing its Rockdale smelter after 56 years.
Our town was visited by virtually every television station within 75 miles. A few did some good reporting. Most simply shoved somebody in front of a camera and let them talk about how it was the end of Rockdale forever. Full Story
