Pleasant Retreat UMC to hold VBS July 23

THORNDALE—Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church of Thorndale will host “Egypt— Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace” Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 23.

Children age 4 through fifth grade are invited to attend. Fun will continue that evening with a swim party at the Thorndale pool from 6 until 8 p.m. with everyone invited, said Elaine Alexander, publicist.

San Gabriel Baptist VBS set July 26-30

San Gabriel Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children Pre-K through fifth grade from 6 to 8 p.m. July 26- 30, featuring music, crafts, recreation, Bible study and a supper served daily following opening assembly.

St. Paul Lutheran to host blood drive

THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 27 at the St. Paul campus. All donors will receive a T-shirt, a star-shaped magnetic refrigerator clip, a half-dozen donuts and a chance to win two Volenta Beach tickets. A bone program on the national bone marrow registry will be presented. The program types donors to patients in need, particularly leukemia and lymphoma patients. Signup requires only brief paper work and a cheek swab.

Forest Grove to hold revival July 26-Aug. 1

Forest Grove Christian Church will hold revival services July 26 through Aug. 1, Minister Brandon Navarre has announced.

“Services will be held at 7 p.m. each night, except for Sunday when services will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.,” he said.

“We have already lined up some wonderful singers for special music, different every night, and our main speaker will be Brandon Shaffer from Edgewood, New Mexico,” Bro. Navarre said.

The public is invited to any and all services.

Barbecue Friday to aid Milano church youth

MILANO—First Baptist Church, 211 Church Street in Milano, will hold a BBQ supper fund-raiser on Friday, July 16 from 6:30 until 8 p.m., according to Dave Lucas, pastor.

The fund-raiser is to help the youth to be able to attend church camp, he said. For more information call the church office, 455-2281.

Meadowbrook VBS set for July 19-23

Meadowbrook Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 9 until 11:30 a.m. July 19- 23 with “everyone invited,” Rick Hertless, pastor, announced. “Join us as we take a trip back in time to Rome where we will meet the apostle Paul and many who ministered with him,” he said. “There will be games, refreshments and Bible study and we’ll finish the week on Friday at noon with hot dogs and fun.” Next men’s breakfast Aug. 9 at Meadowbrook

A community men’s fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between several local churches.

Purpose is to allow men of Christian faith to meet for fellowship, food and a brief devotion.

Next breakfast will be Aug. 9 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Retired minister will fill pulpits as needed

Kent Martin, a new resident of Rockdale and a retired nondenominational minister, would like to fill pulpits when needed.

Martin is a seminary graduate, seminary teacher, former missionary in two countries, and spent 40 years in the ministry.
