POSGCD touts own water well database

MILANO—Directors of the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District got their first look at a searchable database of the district’s wells, developed by Drew Gholson, water management specialist.

The database covers 8,674 total wells, 8359 of which have GPS coordinates and 6,178 with well depth data. Gholson showed how the application is searchable by water quality readings, levels, locations, year readings and distance from other wells.

The office continues to update and measure information on all wells in the Milam-Burlesonarea district.

The board also heard updates from Manager Gary Westbrook on potential changes in Groundwater Management Area 12, after a recent planning session. The GMA will consider recommendations and changes to rules.

The board also okayed an agreement for services from Intera, Inc. POSGCD consultant Steve Young now works for that company.

The board also heard updates from Westbrook on several summer water conferences he attended.

Next meeting is Aug. 10.
