‘Battle of the Bell’ shirts have shorter order time

RHS senior Justin Herrara was the winner in this year’s Battle of the Bell design contest. His art will be featured on the rivalry game T-shirts. Shirts for this year’s Battle of the Bell football game, highlight of the longtime Rockdale-Cameron rivalry, are now on sale. There’s just one problem, the game is the second week of this year’s season so orders need to be turned in as soon as possible, according to Robin Galbreath, senior parent and spokesperson for the Project Graduation shirt committee.

Proceeds from both the bell battle and support shirts go to RHS’ Project Graduation, but usually there is more time to take shirt orders.

“The shirt sales have been the largest fund-raiser for the past classes, but this years class has a big problem facing them,” Galbreath said. “The Battle of the Bell is the second game of this year’s (football) schedule. We have the least amount of time of any other class to take orders and get them distributed.”

Shirts are $15 each and are available in youth and adult sizes. Absolute deadline for turning in a shirt order is Friday, Aug. 20. Last year’s Project Graduation group sold 600 Battle of the Bell shirts, but had more time to do it as Rockdale and Cameron used to be in the same district. Cameron has since dropped down to 2A and are now earlier on the Tigers’ schedule.

“It is really going to hurt our chances of meeting our projected needs,” Galbreath said of the short time they have to sell the Battle of the Bell shirts.

If anyone is interested in ordering a Battle of the Bell or RHS support shirt, they can do so my contacting any RHS senior. This year’s Battle of the Bell shirt design winner was Justin Herrara.

The RHS support shirts, that can be worn year round, are also available in youth and adult sizes for $15 each.

To have your RHS support shirt by the first football game, orders must be in by Aug. 20 as well. Later orders will be made for the support shirts.
