Buckholts to get first fire station

Buckholts beat out 199 other applicants across Texas to win a new 4,000-square-foot fire station as part of a “Helping Hands Award” through a popular syndicated television show.

“Texas Country Reporter” and Mueller Buildings sponsor the award. In October the show, and host Bob Phillips, will be in Buckholts to document assembly of the metal fire station adjacent to the town hall.

Mueller officials said Buckholts’ application ranked high because Buckholts is the only municipality in Milam County without a fire station.

The Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) has been working on creating a building fund for about 10 years. Donations to that effort may still be made.
