New principal hiring July 26th

The Rockdale ISD plans to hire a new principal during its July 26 school board meeting.

Supt. Dr. Howell Wright told The Reporter a candidate has been designated and the formal action to hire will be brought before trustees on that date.

“We will have several other personnel hirings to consider during the same meeting, so we’re going to do them all together,” he said.

The session will begin at 5:30 p.m. July 26 in the Central Administration Building.

Withdrawal

The last-minute search for a new principal was triggered when the board’s original choice withdrew his name after formally being hired.

Harry “Luke” Allison was hired June 21 by trustees to replace Chad Jones, who left RHS at the end of the school term to become superintendent of the West Hardin County ISD.

Allison, assistant principal at Groesbeck High School, visited RHS two days later, then advised RISD Supt. Dr. Howell Wright he was turning down the job for “personal reasons.”

That sent the district back to the drawing board for more interviews.

Interviews were conducted with prospective candidates, leading to the anticipated action July 26.

First day of school fo the 2010-11 term is Aug. 23.
