Salazar

CAMERON—Funeral services for Juan Santos Salazar, 68, of Cameron were held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Basilio Montez officiating. Burial followed in Hernandez Cemetery in Cameron.

A prayer service was held Friday, July 9, at the funeral home.

Mr. Salazar died Tuesday, July 6, in a Temple hospital.

A retired forklift driver, he was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Cameron to Miguel and Maria (Santos) Salazar.

Mr. Salazar was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Moses Salazar.

Survivors include four sons, Anthony Salazar of Sacramento, California, John Renee Salazar of San Jose, California, Isaac Quinteros of Troy, Jonathan Salazar of Cameron; three daughters, Yvonne Quinyones of San Jose, California, Christina Martinez of Morgan Hill, California, Monique Salazar of Buckholts; a brother, Charles Salazar of Cameron; four sisters, Mary Ruth Martinez and Paula Martinez, both of Temple, Josie Sanchez of Cameron, Caroline Cortez of Rockdale; and two stepchildren, Jimmy Rodriguez and Debbie Rodriguez, both of Cameron; also, 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
