HOUSTON—Bryant Carl “B.C.” Young, 78, died at his home in Kingwood on Monday, July 5, 2010, with his wife at his side.
He was born March 24, 1932, to Jacob Monroe Young and Beulah Valma Bryant Young in the Forest Grove community.
Mr. Young was raised in Rockdale and graduated Rockdale High School in 1950.
He joined the Air Force on June 23, 1950, as a tail gunner on a B-29, serving with the 307th Bomber Wing on Okinawa. He f lew 24 combat missions over Korea.
Mr. Young received the Air Medal, Presidential and Syngman Rhee Citations for service in the Strategic Air Command.
He had the privilege of traveling all over the world while in the Air Force.
After being discharged from the Air Force, Mr. Young worked for Eastern States Petroleum Co., later acquired by Charter Oil Co., and finally retired from Valero Energy Co.
He was a charter member of Sam B. Crawford Masonic Lodge No. 1418 in New Caney.
Survivors are his wife, Karen Cooke Young; a daughter and sonin law, Laura Deanne and Tony Strothers; a son and daughterin law, Gary and Evelyn Young; a stepdaughter, Erica Pawlak; a stepson, Ryan Pawlak; and six grandchildren, Harrison Sachs, Ashli and Matt Young, Brewer Newton, Samantha and Nicholas Strothers.
