Police probe theft of $8,000 in rings from pawn shop
A momentary distraction Saturday proved to be a costly one for a Rockdale business.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said a box of rings valued at $8,000 were taken in an audacious theft at National Pawn & Jewelry.
“The clerk was distracted for a moment and someone reached around and took the box of rings,” Newlin said.
Cattle, missing, strayed in Milam
Milam County sheriff’s deputies were kept busy with “cattle calls” during the past week as there were two reports of missing cattle, both in the Rockdale area.
Deputies checked out a missing cattle report Saturday from Avenue C in Milano.
A second missing cattle call was received Monday from a County Road 302 location northwest of Rockdale. Full Story

Chase nets indictment of T’dale pair
CAMERON—Two Thorndale residents arrested in May in connection with an FM 908 break-in and subsequent chase were indicted Thursday by a Milam County Grand Jury.
Lonny Arthur Green, 49, and 37- year-old Pepper Sue Bowsher were indicted for evading arrest with a motor vehicle and burglary of a habitation, enhanced to first degree felony. Full Story
