Barrel racing, team roping fund-raisers set at Fair Park
There will be an open 4D barrel race on Friday, July 30 and a team roping on Saturday, July 31 at Rockdale’s Fair Park Arena as a fund-raiser for the Thrall 4-H/ FFA Booster Club, spokesperson Marty Tanner said.
Bob Berg buckles will be awarded to winners in each division of the barrel race and those winners will be eligible for a drawing to win a Brittany Pozzi Saddle donated by Double J Saddlery. Pozzi is a two time world champion barrel racer. There will also be a raffle drawing held at the event for a day lesson with Pozzi.
Books for the barrel race event will open at 5 p.m. July 30 with exhibition from 5:30-7 and the open starts at 8. Entry fee is $30 with a 70 percent payback and an office charge of $5.
The team roping is set for July 31 with books opening at 4 p.m. and roping starts at 5. Costs are #10 with six cap four for $30 and #13 for $40. Enter as many times as you want, Tanner said. Bob Berg buckles will be awarded to the average header and heeler of each roping.
A Twister custom saddle will be given to the high-point roper from combined ropings. A raffle will be held at the event for a one day lesson with nine-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier Tyler Magnus.
An 8-and-under stick horse race will be held during the barrel exhibition and also a dummy roping after the first round Saturday. Bob Berg buckles will be awarded to winners in those events.
