Vav ra

CAMERON—Funeral services for Wilfred Patrick Vavra, 82, of Houston, formerly of Caldwell, were held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial followed in St. Monica’s Cemetery.

Rosary was recited on Friday, July 16, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Vavra died Wednesday, July 14, in a Houston rehabilitation center.

A retired upholsterer, he was bon Jan. 29, 1928, in Caldwell to Pete and Otilia (Houdek) Vavra.

Mr. Vavra was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

He married Milady Biskup in 1954.

Survivors include his wife, Milady Vavra of Houston; a brother, James Vavra of Bryan; and three sisters, Helen Burnett of Cameron, Tela Henna of Austin, Frances Brooks of Taylor.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
