Junction Girls open tourney with victory

MINEOLA—The Milano Junction Girls opened up the 10 & under softball state tournament with a 6-2 win over host the Mineola Dirt Devils.

Offensive standouts were Lauryn Locklin 3-3 2 doubles and 3 runs scored and Naomi Graham 2-2 1 double 3 RBI’s. Graham also had 15 k’s from the mound.

Other Junction Girls had several hard hits but the Mineola defense was stingy.

They resume action tomorrow at 6:45 pm against the winner of West and Academy. Academy was the runner up to Milano at district.
