Food, fun highlight 21st Smith gathering

GAUSE—21st annual J. Frank and Mollie E. Smith family reunion was held July 16-17 in Gause. Guests enjoyed food, fun and fellowship led by Verdie Sadberry of Dallas. Entertainment was “This Is It” by Michael Jackson which was presented in a backyard theatre area.

The meal consisted of fried catfish, alligator, French fries and hush puppies prepared by John Edmond, Ferias Ferguson Sr. and Shana Hickmon. Reginald Holloway, Sr. and Ferias Ferguson Jr. grilled hamburgers, chicken drummettes and hot dogs. Other dishes were spaghetti salad, potato salad, cole slaw, tossed salad, enchiladas, rice and beans, jambalaya, gumbo, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, watermelon, cantaloupe, and a variety of homemade cakes.

Sunday, family from New Mexico, California, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, Missouri and Georgia gathered at Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center to enjoy and reminisce over the past year. New to the itinerary this year was “Hats and More Hats.”—Yvette Ferguson, reunion reporter.
