Cowboy Church hosts men’s breakfast each first Saturday of month

Milam County Cowboy Church has a men’s fellowship breakfast each first Saturday of the month. The gathering, called “Ranch Hand Outfitters,” is open to men of all ages.

“We meet outside at our new church site at 7 a.m. for cowboy coffee and breakfast cooked over the fire and it is always free,” said Kirk Glasby, spokesman. The new church is under construction off US 77 just north of Rockdale.

“Each month we offer a special guest to speak on issues of interest to all men,” Glasby said. “This month’s breakfast, this Saturday on Aug 7, our speaker will be DPS State Trooper Jimmy Morgan.”

“We invite all interested men to come join us for some great coffee, an opportunity to meet other men and hear a little bit of God’s plan for us guys,” Glasby said.

Latter-Day Saints help RMH Auxiliary project

Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is partnering with the Rockdale Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to make blankets for the hospital’s emergency room.

“These fleece blankets will be given to children visiting the E.R.,” said Chanda Sanderson, spokesperson.

The public’s help is requested in any of the following ways:

• Donate fabric to make the blankets (any color fleece in 1.25- yard lengths).

• Donate Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings at Rockdale Veterinary Clinic or Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, 310 Calhoun Drive.

• Help tie blankets on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

• Spread the word.

“An emergency room visit can be a scary thing, especially for a child,” Sanderson said. “Let’s all help each child know we care with our gift of comfort and security.” For more information call Sanderson at 208-409-3249.

Rising Star holding revival this week

Rising Star Baptist Church, 1022 Texas Street, is hosting a City-Wide Revival Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 4-5-6. Prayer and Preparation start at 6:30 p.m. and the revival services are at 7:00.

Speaker is Pastor Harold Carter of St. John’s Regular Baptist Church in Dale.

Praise, worship and musical selections are presented by local and area churches each night, according to Georgia Richards, spokesperson.

Next men’s breakfast Tuesday at Meadowbrook

A community men’s fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between several local churches.

Purpose is to allow men of Christian faith to meet for fellowship, food and a brief devotion.

Next breakfast will be Aug. 9 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet here Aug. 12

Betty Wenzel will be guest speaker at the Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at Rockdale General Store, 6100 West US 79.

Wenzel is an ordained minister, associate pastor of Grace Church in Cameron, president and co-founder of Refreshing Winds Ministries, and secretary/ treasurer of the Cameron Area Minister’s Association.

She ministers regularly in chapel services at Cameron nursing homes and speaks for banquets, women’s fellowship groups, seminars, workshops and Banner training workshops, according to Shirley Rodgers, spokesperson.

“She also provides music ministry through song upon requests, conducts weekend retreats for women through her Refreshing Winds Ministries based in Cameron,” Rodgers said.

Weight loss program ahead at Meadowbrook

First Place 4 Health, a Christcentered health and weight loss program, w ill be of fered in Rockdale, according to Suzanne Turner, spokesperson.

Orientation (mandatory for members) will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church fellowship hall. Fall session will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the same location. Member’s kit is $80 and a Bible study workbook is $16. Orders will be taken at orientation.
