We had a ribbon cutting for Patio Pit BBQ, with owners Wayne and Connie Roddy, on Friday, Aug. 6. They had samples of their brisket and sausage and it was delicious.

So go by Patio Pit BBQ on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and pick up some delicious BBQ. You can eat there or take it with you. They open at 11 a.m. and go until they are sold out.

One-year anniversary

We have another ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13 for the Days Inn on Hwy 77. This is their one-year anniversary so come and celebrate with them.

If you haven’t seen the hotel you are in for a treat. Come out on Friday and welcome Don and his crew to Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.

School supply drive

Also on Friday we will have the School Supply giveaway sponsored by the VFW Post 6525 and Ladies’ Auxiliary.

The giveaway will be held from 1-3 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to help, come at 10 a.m. to get started.

Marketing seminar

I hope you are making plans to attend our workshop called Beyond Traditional Marketing. This will be a great learning experience of how to promote your business using the internet. Facebook, blogging and twittering are ways to promote your business and they cost nothing.

The workshop is free to Chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. It will be held at the Patterson Center on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Sheila Scarborough is our speaker and she is very knowledgeable about how to promote using these social medias that are so popular now. Call the Chamber and get your name on the list.

Garage sales

We have started working on our Community Wide Garage Sale, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4. Call the Chamber to get your sale on the map. This is always a big event and we expect this year to be the same.
