Three draw terms in 20th District Court action

Gause, Cameron and Hearne volunteer firefighters responded to a structure fire on FM 485 at 3:45 p.m. Friday, where the William Dunn home was a total loss. One Hearne firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was administered aid from AMR. Gause had mutal aid from a Cameron VFD tanker and Hearne Vol. Fire Dept. Deputy Mike Hoyt maintained traffic control. Full Story
Deputies called to fights as temperatures soar
It looks like the tempers have soared along with the temperatures.
Milam County sheriff’s deputies were called to break up three fights during the past week, two within an hour of each other in different parts of the county.
Those calls came at 12:15 a.m. and 1:04 a.m. Sunday and involved incidents in Buckholts and Ben Arnold, respectively. Full Story

Kolache Festival in Caldwell set Sept. 11
CALDWELL—The 26th annual Kolache Festival in Caldwell is on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event is free and is held in downtown Caldwell, around the Courthouse Square. There will be Czech music, dancers and kolaches along with craft and food vendors throughout the day. Full Story
RVFD fires it up at Summer Bash
Rockdale Volunteer Firemen are used to working in the heat, but they also got to “play” in it last weekend at the first RVFD Summer Bash held at Fair Park.
The event included a barbecue cookoff and games and raised an estimated $5,000 for the department. Full Story
