Buckholts hires first police chief, ‘assistant’

BUCKHOLTS—James Blackmon is the first police chief in Buckholts.

Buckholts, assisted by canine office “Sissy” is now working parttime and plans are for the chief to eventually become full time and the new department to become selfsupporting through revenue from traffic tickets and fines, according to Mayor Hal Senkel.

In the 1920s Buckholts was served by town marshals but Blackmon is the first chief since the town incorporated in the 1970s.

Blackmon, 56, has worked for Thrall, Hutto and Austin Community College.

The City of Rogers has donated a used police cruiser to the department.
