GOP sets Tuesday ‘Rally in the Park’

CAMERON—The Republican Party of Milam County will kick off the fall election season on 6 p.m. Tuesday at the City Park in Cameron when the Republican Women of Milam County host their annual Old-Fashioned Rally in the Park.

Free hot dogs, lemonade and ice cream will go along with patriotic music provided by the Yoe High Band, to be followed by statements from local GOP candidates and remarks from U.S. Rep. John Carter.

“Last year’s event was described by Rep. Carter as being one of the best patriotic events he had ever been to,” said Bill Whitmire, Milam GOP chair. “Come on out and join us for a fun time.”

Others expected to speak are Dr. Charles Schwertner, candidate for the State House, State Board of Education candidate Dr. Marsha Farney and Texas State Senator Steve Ogden.

Whitmire said there will be more events in the final months before the election throughout Milam County, including a rally at the New Salem Clubhouse in Rockdale on Oct. 19. Dates and times of the other events will be released as they come available, he said.
