‘New’ elementary on tap for Milano

MIL A NO—Students in the Milano ISD will have a “new” elementary campus when they return for the first day of classes Monday.

The Depression Era, Works Progress Administration (WPA) rock building that served for many years as a high school has been renovated as an elementary, according to Supt. Lindy Robinson.

Elementary classes will no longer be held in the building one mile east of the current campus adjacent to Charlie Martin Park.

Robinson said a slight enrollment increase is forecast. “We’re looking for about 420, compared to 410 the first day of classes last year,” she said.
