By WANDA LEE
Reporter correspondent
A reminder that the Gause ISD will have its “Meet the Teachers” from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19. Teachers have already started back with meetings, working in their rooms, etc. this week. The Gause United Methodist Church prepared lunch for faculty and staff one day. Classes for students begin on Monday, Aug. 23. Students are going to need to have their shot records updated so don’t forget to do that.

Volleyball and football games will start soon for the junior high students. Also, the Gause Parents Club will have their first soccer sign up in the cafeteria during the “Meet the Teachers” on Thursday.

The Gause soccer league will also hold registration on Aug. 23, Aug. 26 and Aug. 31 at the Gause school cafeteria from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is open to all students in Gause, Milano, Mumford, Hearne and Calvert.

The cost is $40 per child for ages 4 through 9. Older players ages 9 through 12 will be playing in the Bryan league where the cost will be $60.

For more information, please contact Janet Pilkey at (979) 575- 8794 or jkpilkey03@yahoo.com or gauseparentsclub.net.

If you are interested in riding in the trail ride for the Founders Day parade on Saturday, Sept. 4, please contact J. Lynn Grace at 979-279-6645. He can give you more information. J. Lynn will serve as trail boss and the Gause CIP appreciates his taking time for this community activity.

I don’t have complete information on the Gause School Athletic Boosters Sugarloaf Fun Run that will also be taking place on Founders Day, but hopefully I can get more info this week to get to you next week.

Seth Vinton celebrated his 10th birthday on Friday, Aug. 13 with a pizza party given by parents Renee’ and Jerry Vinton, Calla and Isaac. Invited friends spent time in the pool before pizza was served. Birthday cake and ice cream was also served after which he had a great time opening gifts. The boys stayed for a sleep over, and I understand they didn’t go to bed until the wee hours.

Kim Lee and Kendall spent the weekend visiting with Kim’s sister Debra and family in the Dallas area.

Desiree’ and Allen Reese and Lilly of Thorndale visited with relatives here on Saturday.
