Heavely Treasures holding weekly sales

Rockdale Christian Services’ Heavenly Treasures thrift store serving the needy is holding sales each Wednesday through September, according to Pat Watson, RCS volunteer.

Dates and sale items are: Aug. 25, knickknacks 10 cents; Sept. 1, skirts, 50 cents; Sept. 3, $3-bag day; Sept. 8, all children’s clothes, 25 cents; Sept. 15, dollar day; Sept. 22, half-price sale; Sept. 29, T-shirts, 50 cents.

Rockdale Christian hosting rally Aug. 29

Rockdale Christian Church, located at 1406 Sager Road in Rockdale, will host the area wide Fifth Sunday Rally at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, according to pastor Harry Stevenson.

The program will feature Scott Williams with the Master’s Peace Quartet, as well as specials from area churches, to be followed by refreshments and fellowship.

“Everyone in our community is invited to share with us in prise adn worship of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Stevenson said.

Latter-Day Saints help RMH Auxiliary project

Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is partnering with the Rockdale Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to make blankets for the hospital’s emergency room.

“These fleece blankets will be given to children visiting the E.R.,” said Chanda Sanderson, spokesperson.

The public’s help is requested in any of the following ways:

• Donate fabric to make the blankets (any color fleece in 1.25- yard lengths).

• Donate Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings at Rockdale Veterinary Clinic or Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 310 Calhoun Drive.

Weight loss program ahead at Meadowbrook

First Place 4 Health, a Christ-centered health and weight loss program, will be offered in Rockdale at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, according to Suzanne Turner, spokesperson.

Orientation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at the church fellowship hall. Fall session will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the same location. Member’s kit is $80 and a Bible study workbook is $16. Orders will be taken at orientation.

Calvary Baptist adds afternoon service

Calvary Baptist Church, located 1.5 miles south of Rockdale on FM 487, has started Sunday 3 p.m. services, according to pastor Leslie Adams.

“These services are a time of worship and fellowship. There will be music and a short message. Everyone is invited to attend,” Adams said.

Attendees do not have to be a member of Calvary Baptist Church to participate.

“We encourage those who have a musical talent or wish to share their testimony to come and worship with us,” Adams added.

Stephen Chapel A.M.E. honoring pastor

Members of Stephen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Gause will salute pastor Linda M. Wallace and family on their seventh appreciation services at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5. The church is located at 422 E. US 79 in Gause.

Rev. L. O. Lang of New Corinth Baptist Church in Giddings will be the guest speaker.

St. Mary’s-Taylor sets annual fall festival

TAYLOR–St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor has set is annual Fall Festival for Sunday, Sept. 12, according to spokesperson Melanie L. Martin.

The festival is an all-day event that includes carnival-style games, cake walk, great food, bounce houses and kids’ train.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taylor. For more information, call Martin at 512-289- 0545.
