Thorndale council sets public tax hearings

THORNDALE—City council members in Thorndale met Monday and set two public hearings for comment on the proposed city tax rate and budget.

Public hearings are set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 and Sept. 13 at Thorndale City Hall.

“The Sept. 8 meeting will also include a budget hearing,” City Secretary Denise Melde said.

A meeting to adopt the tax rate and budget is set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at City Hall.

An 85-cent tax rate, same as the current rate is proposed. A combined (general and waterworks) budget of $1,107,500 is proposed.

During Monday’s meeting the council reviewed and altered general and waterworks budget worksheets and considered a restructured payscale and three percent cost of living increase for employees.
