Four Rockdalians on TSTC honor roll

WACO–Four Rockdale residence have been named to the Texas State Technical College President’s Honor Roll after posting a 4.0 grade point average for the 2010 spring semester.

Arthur Garza, Jose Montelongo, Henry Pelzel and Bryan Thornton all received the honor.

Garza is a computer networking and systems administration student; Montelongo, an industrial systems and engineering student; Pelzel an electric power and control technology student; and Thornton, an instrumentation, computerized controls and robotics students.

Milano Alumni offering Fall mini scholarships

MIL A NO —Mila no A lumni Scholarship Committee is now offering mini scholarships for the 2010 fall semester, according to secretary Carolyn Hafley.

All MHS graduates who have completed two semesters of college or trade school and are enrolled for this fall are eligible to apply.

Thorndale boosters set ‘Bulldog Challenge’

On Fr iday nights of home football games, the Thorndale Athletic Booster Club will hold the 2010 Bulldog Challenge, club secretary Marcy Jones said.

Athletes young and old have an opportunity to win a chance to kick a field goal at varsity football games played at home in Thorndale.

K ickers scoring field goals will win $50 gift cards from area businesses and a chance to double their winnings. Proceeds benefit Thorndale athletics, Jones said.

Milano PATCH Club to meet Tuesday

The Milano PATCH (parent and teacher club) will hold its first meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, spokesperson Rebecca Telg said.

The meeting will be held in the new elementary school cafeteria.

Gause soccer league registering players

Gause soccer league will continue registration on Aug. 26, Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 at the Gause school cafeteria from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is open to all students in Gause, Cameron, Milano, Mumford, Hearne and Calvert, spokesperson Janet Pilkey said.

The cost is $40 per child for ages 4 through 9. Older players ages 9 through 12 will be playing in the Bryan league where the cost will be $50.
