Affirm Christianity, faith in ‘everything’Dear editor,
No more, we’ve had enough.
So many of us, American Citizens, have seen and heard all that we want to see or hear about the hope and change which was thrust upon us by the present ruling class in Congress and in the presidency.
It is time to take names of those who want to destroy America as we have known it and as our Founding Fathers envisioned.
Without the proper leadership in Washington DC, we the people, will have to respond. This is no time to compromise our beliefs in order to not “rock the boat” or to not “offend anyone” lest they not be our friend.
Some may be doing things through sheer ignorance of what America is all about.
There are a number of things which are being done or not being done which are undermining America’s traditional heritage, but, let’s look at one action which I believe is at the root of many other indifferences.
This is keeping church and State separated.
Here is when taking names is important, because you never want to elect anyone to a public office who upholds this belief.
Someone I know explained to me what so many believe that by allowing prayer in our government schools the question that is raised is “whose prayer will be allowed.”
Someone may suggest that a prayer to some foreign God would be allowed, so it is better not to allow any praying in school at all.
With this philosophy the question is...Who are you trying to please, our Christian God or created man.
My daily prayer is “Let my thoughts, words and deeds glorify Thee this day. Praise God.”
We need to reassert ourselves to acknowledging God in everything that we do. As Christians we should be continuing to advance Christianity at every opportunity. Keeping God, our Creator God, out of government and out of our schools was not the intention of our Founding Fathers.
Their concern at the time of writing our Constitution was that the federal government should not be able to require all citizens to belong to one certain religious order or church.
They did not intend for America to discontinue acknowledging God. “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,” Romans 1:28 NASB.
I am told that 83% of the American population profess to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This group must now come to life in their Christian faith. Political correctness be damned.
If my actions offend someone, I’m sorry. You should do what I’m told by TV program producers, if the content offends switch the channel.
So, if what Christians are doing to express their faith offends you, travel a different path?
Next month is Southern Gospel music month. I hope someone would pick up the ball and organize music programs in every Church in Milam County and have all the Church bells ring at the beginning of each program.
October is clergy appreciation month. Perhaps, someone would organize a public barbecue to recognize all Christian clergy and the proceeds distributed to every clergy, share and share alike.
November, the month for all of our Thanksgivings. Giving Thanks to Almighty God will be the most enjoyable month of all.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and I will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV.
And, what a wonderful time to review/teach America’s Heritage to all the children.
Then in the month our Savior was born, December, there will be celebrations galore.
In fact, to express our faith more abundantly let’s all try to erect a nativity scene in our front yards during the entire month of December. Perhaps, there is someone out there who will begin to build these displays for the public.
Also, let’s try to refrain using the generic phrase “Happy Holidays.” Use instead, the phrase “Merry Christmas.” Remember we want to advance Christianity at every opportunity.
So join with me to begin again acknowledging God in everything that we do, holding meetings, sporting events, etc. In everything!
Yours truly, Bill Vogelpohl, 127 E Cameron Ave, Rockdale
