Caldwell

Memorial services for William Carl “Bill” Caldwell Sr., 74, of Rockdale was held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Margaret Clemings, VistaCare Hospice chaplain, officiating.

Mr. Caldwell died Thursday, Aug. 19, at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

He was born July 23, 1936, in Independence, Kansas, to Walter C. and Evelyn (Loggan) Caldwell.

He married Margaret Smith in 1974 in Irving.

Mr. Caldwell was a 1954 graduate of Irving High School and attended the University of Texas at Arlington.

Formerly of Goodrich, he had been a Rockdale resident for the past 2½ years.

Mr. Caldwell was an electronics technician, retiring from Kerr-McGee Oil Co. in 1991.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Caldwell.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Caldwell of Rockdale; three sons, Bill Caldwell Jr. and wife Janean of Garland, Lonnie Caldwell and wife Nancy of Grand Prairie, Ty Caldwell and wife Yelena of Las Vegas, Nevada; his parents, Walter and Evelyn Caldwell of Irving; two stepsons, Dan Etter and wife Melanie of Thrall, Robbie Galloway of Las Vegas, Nevada; two stepdaughters, Belinda Burton of Bentonville, Arkansas, Carolyn Estes and husband Monty of Austin; a brother, Tom Caldwell and wife Barbara of Altus, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Marilyn Berlin and husband Harry of Garland, Dorothy Lawrence of Irving; also, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
