‘Open range’ a problem for sheriff’s department

Shades of the old west.

The Milam County Sheriff’s Department routinely answers a handful of loose livestock calls over a week but between Aug. 24 and 31 there were 27 of them.

Six of the calls were reported last Wednesday, all but one in the Rockdale area.

The calls, however, were to all parts of the county.
