Tucker Tucker Services for Daisy Lorene Stephens Tucker, 92, of Salty were held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale with Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial was in Salty Cemetery.

Mrs. Tucker died Wednesday, Aug. 25.

She was bor n Ju ly 8, 1918, in the Salty area to Lonnie Dalton and Eva Harris Stephens.

Mrs. Tucker attended school at Salty, which ended at 10th grade, but she got her GED when she was 45. While in school, she played for the softball and basketball teams.

She married Henry “Buster” Dur wood Tucker on July 14, 1935. After a short time living in Austin and Houston, they returned to the Salty community.

Mrs. Tucker filled her days delivering Meals-on-Wheels, driving others to appointments and making wellness calls to others.

She was a member of the Town & Country Club, Thorndale Senior Citizens and the Salty Cemetery Association. She was a former member of Salty Church and current member of Conoley Church.

Mrs. Tucker received t he Thorndale Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 2006 and was a founding member of the Salty Riding Club, where she and her husband enjoyed going on trail rides.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and a daughter, Anita Tucker Clark, in 1977.

Survivors are a son, Durwood and wife Darleen; five grandchildren, Shannon Bates and husband Stewart of Brenham, Stacey Pedroza and husband Joe of Salty, Stephen Tucker and wife Jodi of Lufkin, Becky Kelly and Timothy Clark of Lamar, South Carolina; and 10 great-grandchildren, Zach Heine, Elise Heine, Danielle Pedroza, Jacob Pedroza, Joe Grady Tucker, Chloe Tucker, Stone Tucker, Michelle Alexander, Elaine Alexander and C.J. Alexander.

Pallbearers were Joseph A. Pedroza, Stewart Bates, Leroy Stephens, Neil Caffey, John Tucker, Gaylon Tucker, Tracy Luckey and Phillip Strong.

Honorary pallbearers were the ladies of the Town & Country Club of Thorndale.
