Farewell to an advocate for Rockdale
This week I would like to say farewell to a good friend of Rockdale—Ken Cooke. He and his family have moved to Victoria for a great opportunity for he and Christine. And though I am so proud for them that they have found this wonderful opportunity I am sad too that Rockdale has lost an advocate and strong voice for the town. Full Story

Free computer classes wil beign at the Workforce Solutions office, located at the One Stop Center (313 N. Main St.) in Rockdale. Classes include computer basics, internet, emial, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Publisher. Seats are limited so call 512-446-6440 for more information. Full Story
City building permits hit $1 million for 2010
City building permits totaled $27,590 in July and $73,300 in August, bringing the 2010 total to $1,046,927.
Building permits are issued at City Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits.

Thorndale chamber sponsoring circus
The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) announces the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus is coming to Thorndale. The circus will be at the Thorndale City Park on Thursday, Sept. 30 with performances at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The three ring circus will have tickets on sale at the Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Downtown Cafe, Thorndale City Hall and Rodenbeck Farm and Ranch.
